Abstract Social entrepreneurship has emerged as a transformative approach that integrates business innovation with social value creation. Unlike traditional entrepreneurship, which primarily focuses on profit maximization, social entrepreneurship emphasizes solving pressing social, environmental, and developmental challenges through sustainable and scalable business models. In recent years, it has gained significant attention as a key driver of sustainable development, particularly in addressing issues such as poverty, inequality, unemployment, environmental degradation, and lack of access to basic services.

This article examines the role of social entrepreneurship in promoting sustainable development by balancing economic viability with social impact. It highlights how social enterprises contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through innovative solutions in sectors such as education, healthcare, renewable energy, waste management, and financial inclusion. The study also explores how social entrepreneurs act as change agents by mobilizing resources, empowering communities, and fostering inclusive growth.

The research is based on secondary data collected from journals, government reports, academic publications, and global development organizations. A qualitative approach is adopted to understand the conceptual link between social entrepreneurship and sustainable development. The findings suggest that social entrepreneurship not only addresses societal challenges but also strengthens long-term sustainability by encouraging responsible business practices and community participation. However, the sector faces challenges such as limited funding, policy constraints, scalability issues, and lack of awareness. Despite these challenges, social entrepreneurship holds strong potential to contribute to sustainable development when supported by enabling ecosystems and effective policy frameworks.
