| Abstract | The present research paper is an attempt to throw light on the health condition of indebted farmers from Sarguja division of the Chhattisgarh state. The indebted farmers lead a very challenging life due to pressure from many fronts, namely, loan lenders, increasing inflation, rising price of petrol/diesel, changing climates and above all from poverty and illiteracy. Agriculture no more remains a profit making occupation especially for marginal and small farmers. As governmental financial institutes do not meet their entire needs, they depend upon private money lenders at very high interest rates, many a times; they are unable to repay their loans. In such situations, their life become miserable and they find it hard to make both ends meet. This unfavorable and stressful life has serious repercussion on their health. Lack of adequate medical facilities, unawareness and poor economic conditions make their health a serious issue. |
