| Abstract | The Self-Help Group–Bank Linkage Programme (SBLP) has emerged as an important mechanism for extending micro-credit to rural communities through the linkage of Self-Help Groups with formal banking institutions. The programme facilitates access to institutional credit and promotes savings, credit availability and financial participation among members of Self-Help Groups. The present study examines the performance of the Self-Help Group–Bank Linkage Programme in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh over a period of ten years from 2006-07 to 2015-16. The study analyses the division-wise position of Self-Help Groups, micro-credit disbursement and overdues in Adoni, Nandyal and Kurnool revenue divisions. The study is descriptive and analytical in nature and is based on secondary data collected from District Rural Development Agency reports and other published sources. The analysis indicates differences among the three revenue divisions in terms of the number of Self-Help Groups, credit disbursement and overdue position. The study provides an overview of the performance of SBLP in Kurnool district during the study period. |
